Our Global Awareness Program is an educational course delivered in class and in Africa, which aims to develop responsible global citizens. The program complements the CAS element of the IB and supports enrichment programs. The program allows students to be practically involved with real world scenarios, where they can learn from and collaborate with our team of specialists.
The programme covers real-life topics such as Human/Wildlife Conflict, the impact of Climate change on the continent and gender equality. Our teams who live and work across the continent see these issues daily, so we use that expertise to aide students understanding of these issues.
Real-World scenarios include how to support a farming project by the Zambezi, how to support a local school in Livingstone and snare poaching in the Greater Kruger area, factoring in the human/wildlife conflict and climate change workshops the students will have learnt about.
Our mission is to deliver the best educational experiences in Africa for schools, with long-lasting impact for both the communities we work alongside, as well as the young people travelling with us.
Our learning outcomes include life skills, such as critical thinking and communication skills, problem solving, resilience and collaboration. The course complements the CAS element of the IB, enrichment programs, the MYP curriculum and character education.
Students can earn ASDAN curriculum credits, to support UK University applications.
Because we run all our own projects we can offer programmes with quality and purpose which contribute to our long-term goals and outcomes across Africa.
African Impact is an educational travel company which has been offering developmental programmes, including service-learning, volunteering, internships, and expeditions across Africa for over 15 years.
We started in 2004 when a handful of well-travelled people sat around a table in the heart of the Zimbabwean wilderness. With backgrounds in tourism, development and conservation, they knew they wanted to do something great. They wanted to use their passion and skills to start a travel company that made a difference. They wanted to introduce people to the Africa they knew. The people. The wildlife. The magic. It didn’t take long to see that there were a lot more people like us. People who wanted to travel while truly experiencing a country at its best, and worst. People who wanted to genuinely connect with the local people and to leave a place better than they found it. We grew and opened new projects in new countries across southern Africa.
We’ve learned that if a community has total buy-in and ownership of a project – and a student is truly informed about their own role and contribution to this – experiential travel has the power to transform both a community and a young person. We look to combining genuine impacts with extraordinary experiences.
Come and join us in Africa!
Our experience has led us to developing this educational course which we wanted to make accessible for everyone.
Our In-Class programme was developed with the desire to connect young people with the world with purpose, with value and sustainably. This is delivered online and in the classroom. Includes live calls with our teams in Africa. Students engage with our communities in Africa and deal with real-life scenarios, from our projects.
