SAFETY IN AFRICA

Safety of our students, groups and staff is our first priority on all our trips. We have robust safety management and systems in place.

An overview of our safety procedures and protocols is outlined below.

  • We have been running programmes in Africa since 2004.
  • We are experts in the continent of Africa, where we work exclusively.
  • Our staff live and work year-round in the destination, giving them the first hand knowledge and experience to keep our groups safe.
  • We adhere to a minimum 1:10 ratio of adults to students.
  • Every team is accompanied by an experienced tour leader who is with the group 24/7
  • Operational support on the ground 24/7
  • We are members of the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom.
  • First Aid qualified staff in country.
  • In the event of emergency, professional and skilled operators such as medical air rescue services and medical practitioners are available as part of our support network
  • Crisis Management planning
  • We have strict childcare policies and structured training programs in place to define and determine best practice. Our Child Protection Policy is based on the UN Standards for Child Protection.
  • Our Child protection policy has also been vetted and approved by Keep Children Safe https://www.keepingchildrensafe.global/
  • CRB checks carried out for relevant staff on the ground.
  • Full, dynamic and ongoing risk assessments
  • Flights are bonded by ATOL.
  • We are fully financially protected and insured
  • Compliant with the UK package travel regulations.
  • Awarded the Safe Travels Stamp by the World Travel and Tourism Council. which certifies that African Impact has adopted world class health and hygiene protocols for safe travel.
  • Awarded COVID-19 Compliance certificate by the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA).

African Impact has been awarded its COVID-19 Compliance Certificate by the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA).

Furthermore, the SafeTravels Stamp by the World Travel & Tourism Council, has also been awarded to us, to certify that African Impact has adopted world class health and hygiene protocols for safe travel.

The protocols align the private sector behind common standards to ensure the safety of its workforce and travellers as the sector shifts to a new normal.

The SafeTravels Stamp was created for travellers to recognise destinations and businesses around the world which have adopted the SafeTravels health and hygiene global standardised protocols.
